In the beautiful Spa town of Harrogate, the BBC Good Food Show is one of the best ways to celebrate the new season. Gone are the long, cold winter nights – it’s time to get a spring in your step and have some fun at one of the flagship festivals of the year.
The show is all about celebrity chefs, top quality regional and national produce, baking, shopping, learning, cooking and of course eating! As you make your merry way around the HIC you’ll pass through the producers village where a special range of exhibitors have teamed up with Deliciouslyorkshire to bring you the best products from the surrounding area. This will give you the chance to discover Masons Yorkshire Gin and the Serious Sweet Company who will be showcasing a variety of your favourite childhood treats. Other artisan producers from around the country will also be there flaunting their goodies – we’re talking the freshest and most unique foods that you won’t find on the high street. Many will be and adopting a try before you buy policy too!
One of the biggest draws to the BBC Good Food Shows will be the chef line-up and the likes of Tom Kerridge, Paul Hollywood and The Hairy Bikers will be raring to take the stage in the Supertheatre. If you decide to visit the impressive Edwardian theatre on Saturday you can catch a demonstration from Michel Roux Jnr also. If you just can’t get enough of your favourite chefs you can find them again at the interview stage where host Lotte Duncan will be taking your questions for the celebrity guests. Don’t miss the book signings either!
The popular Bakes & Cakes village will return again and this year there will be a Drinks Cabinet too where you can have a few tipples. So far Warner Edwards and Portobello Road Gin have been confirmed as exhibitors here.
Friday 5th May – Sunday 7th May. Friday or Sunday Standard Ticket: £18.50. Standard Saturday Ticket: £20.00.
With almost one hundred events set to take place across Leeds city centre, it’s safe to say that the Leeds Indie Food Festival is looking to be something very special indeed.
The phrase ‘something for everyone’ is bandied about a lot in the foodie world, but here it really rings true. Whether you’re heading to a Polish supper club, planning your route for the Leeds Craft Beer Crawl or hoping to check out The Great Edible Art Show, if you have at least a passing interest in food you’ll have something to entertain you in Leeds throughout the month of May.
If you really want to take on as many events as you possibly can, then it’s well worth purchasing the Leeds Indie Food Passport. With this little beauty you’ll be able to collect stamps from all of the businesses you visit and at all the events you attend, with a view to competing for special rewards and exciting prizes. However, if you don’t feel like taking on the festival in a game of chance, the passport will also entitle you to exclusive products and other such exciting tidbits at events you attend.
Friday 12th May – Tuesday 30th May
Described by Antonio Carluccio as “Yorkshire’s Food Capital”, Malton, will be hosting their incredible Food Lovers Festival again this year.
It will be jam-packed full of over 160 unique producers selling all kinds of wonderful food and drinks for you to try. Everything from game to chocolate and local cheeses will be on offer and the festival bar will give you a continued supply of craft beer and cider.
As if this wasn’t enough a long line of chefs be gathering at the festival to perform the very best in live cooking demonstrations. Alongside them will be an equally impressive group of experts giving tutored tastings and talks for you to get involved with. If last year is anything to go by, Malton will see the return of their festival party from 6pm and a night market with an appetising array of street food. To add to the atmosphere will be a number of performers who will grace the main stage – so get your dancing shoes on. Last year Levi Roots headlined the festival party so we can expect good things.
For a thoroughly enjoyable weekend on the edge of the North Moors, visit Malton and explore all the foodie fun that’s to be had at the Food Lovers Festival.
Saturday 27th May – Sunday 28th May.
