This Christmas, why not get some tips from Michel Rous JR on how to host the perfect Christmas party and make your friends or family exceptionally jealous of your cooking skills!
How to entertain and keep the kitchen calm and clean
If your kitchen space is a cluttered mess, then you’re most likely to get flustered when it comes to cooking and preparing. Clear all unnecessary bits away from your kitchen surfaces for a fresh and clear cooking space. Speaking of preparing, why not set your table on Christmas eve which will be one less thing on your mind! Certain dishes like stuffing and desserts can be created and frozen days before the big day! The more you can do in advance, the less stress and more fun you’ll have!
Michel’s top tips for hosting like a pro
Christmas is an exciting holiday most people can’t wait for but can be one of the most stressful days to some. Michel Roux JR has given us his top tips on preparing for the big day!
The first being don’t buy a turkey too big! If it’s over 4kg, it’s most probably a male bird which can be drier and tougher. Remember you only serve a couple of slices each at Christmas dinner, don’t think you need leftovers!
Create a calming setting with subtle lighting from candle sticks on the dinner table, this will help set relax your guests and the meal will become much more enjoyable.
And remember, the whole day should be as enjoyable to you as for your guest. Try not to overcomplicate the meal and the more love and care that goes into the cooking, will show in the resulting dish!
When should you do your Christmas shop?
Planning and organisation are key for a success Christmas! Don’t leave yourself added stress a few days before Christmas, start early December with items that can be stored in cupboards and pantries! Fresh produce and meat can be collected as early as a few days before Christmas, pre-order your meats to make it even easier for you!
Best seasonal ingredients for Winter: rhubarb, horseradish, pheasant, venison, truffle
