On Wednesday 10th July, Wine and Dine Yorkshire was invited to visit York’s Chocolate Story for a sneak peek at the events coming up this summer, we can tell you, it is definitely the place to be!
York’s Chocolate Story, located in the heart of York, is an entertaining and informative guided tour through the history of York’s most famous chocolate-making families and their finest creations. You’ll discover chocolate’s origins, how to make it and how to taste it like an expert. The company aims to keep the history of chocolate in York current and alive, and they certainly are!
The exclusive event showcased what was planned for the summer. We got to have a go at learning the secret skills of chocolate making with Chocolatiers. We also learnt about the history of York’s chocolate making through an interactive video wall with the characters talking about their involvement with chocolate.
There were exhibits of how chocolate bars had changed over the years, fascinating chocolatey facts, as well as an in depth look into the cocoa bean and how it is extracted.
Throughout July and August York’s Chocolate Story will host a variety of events – including masterclasses, truffle rolling and later tour times.
The masterclasses are £24.95pp and run on the 26th July, 9th & 23rd August. Experience chocolate like never before with the exclusivity of an adult’s chocolate Masterclass. Let the cocoa creations flow as you learn the secret skills of chocolate making with Chocolatiers. Starting at 6pm you will receive a glass of prosecco upon arrival with an intimate setting to make and create your own chocolate to take home.
As the tours are running later this summer, the last tour of the day gives people the option to add a unique truffle rolling experience on the end of the tour. Watch an expert Chocolatier show you how they roll summer truffles before rolling your own creation using summer inspired flavours. Then take your freshly rolled truffles home with you to share with family or friends – or eat them all by yourself, we know you probably will!
So if you are stuck for something to do this summer, why not visit York’s Chocolate story, where you will be guaranteed a heatwave of fun in the home of chocolate.
