Nine months after the fire that destroyed their distillery, Masons Yorkshire Gin have revealed their ambitious comeback plans.
Producers of Masons Yorkshire Gin Karl and Cathy Mason will open their new distillery in 2020 after a fire devastated the original site earlier this year.
At the start of 2019, Masons were producing over 400,000 bottles per year and were growing rapidly. All that changed when a fire started inside the original Masons Gin Distillery on the morning of 2nd April 2019, that destroyed everything inside.
After the fire was safely distinguished, the Masons team gathered at Karl and Cathy’s home to draw up an emergency contingency plan. Within 24 hours, plans were put in place and miraculously, there were no delays in production.
After a whirlwind of a year, Masons has now announced plans to move into its brand new, purpose build distillery situated just outside Bedale on the Leeming Bar industrial estate. The new open-plan distillery will be multi-purposed and will house its production, bottling, and offices all in the same building to help them meet their ambitious growth plans for 2020 and beyond.
Karl Mason, co-founder and Director of Masons Yorkshire Gin said “It goes without saying that without the incredible response from the fire department and the support we have received from our staff, community and our industry colleagues, we would not be in the fortunate position we are in today. When re-creating our distillery, it was essential we kept everything under one roof. We built our brand by working closely with our team, so we can’t wait to have everyone back together.”
Based in Bedale, North Yorkshire, Masons is Yorkshire’s original and most awarded gin. It was launched in 2013 by Karl and Cathy Mason whose journey into ginsmithery began when the ‘perfect’ gin and tonic they were looking for couldn’t be found.
