Casa Peri Peri – Wakefield, the hottest new restaurant!

Wakefield Trinity boasts an array of restaurants perfect for a bite to eat whilst shopping or celebrating with loved ones.

Casa Peri Peri has recently opened, taking over from where Pizza Express used to be.

On arrival, we were stunned at the interior of the restaurant, it is definitely an instagrammable hotspot.

The menu is designed by menu is designed and prepared by international award-winning chef Bobby Geetha. highly commended in his Masterchef UK season 8 final 10 performances. The restaurant aims to be known worldwide as the house of best peri peri, where you can enjoy a perfectly grilled english peri peri chicken or beef short rib in an stylish modern restaurant environment without breaking your wallet. Peri peri sauce originally produced by Portuguese in southern Africa (there is still a debate whether portuguese initially produced it either in angola or mozambique). The sauce is made from peri-peri chilis which are used as a seasoning or marinade.

When looking at the menu, the dishes on offer are very similar to a certain Portuguese restaurant, however after dining at Casa Peri Peri, this place is definitely better. All the dishes have a home-cooked personalised feel to them, along with salad garnishes, the dishes are extremely tasty.

We went for butterfly chicken pita pocket and half chicken. On the side we had pita and chickpea paprika hummus as well as spicy mixed olives. Wow we were certainly impressed! Both our chicken dishes her marinated in medium peri-peri sauce which had the perfect kick but wasn’t too spicy.

The pita pockets came at the side of the chicken so I loved that you could build your own pita and still had some butterfly chicken left to have on its own. Accompanied with spicy rice and a side salad the dish was the perfect size and was very pleasing on a warm summer’s night.

The half-chicken was a mammoth portion along with spicy rice and tender-stem broccoli. The broccoli had a chilli kick and the spicy rice was hot and steamy!

Overall, the main dishes were incredible, along with the brilliant service, we didn’t want to leave! I’d love to see how buzzing the restaurant is on a weekend as it is certainly the place to be and get plenty of pictures to show of the interior.

After finishing our main course, we could not resist a dessert. We went for the chocolate brownie and strawberry cheesecake. Again, the presentation was beautiful, and the desserts tasted even better. The brownie was served on a skillet so was nice and hot and the chocolate sauce was gooey and almost smokey from the hot plate. The cheesecake was very refreshing, and the raspberry coulis was the perfect palette cleanser.
