Piccolino – The finest Italian dishes

Piccolino is a proud fixture of the Collingham dining scene. Ideally situated on Wetherby Road, Piccolino proudly boasts an open kitchen, cocktail bar and tranquil rear garden for alfresco dining overlooking the peaceful countryside.

Passion for provenance is at the forefront of their menu, which incorporates the best and freshest seasonal produce, Italian cheeses, meat and seafood, all delivering pure classic Italian flavours.

Wine & Dine Yorkshire were invited over to sample the menu. Upon arrival, we were directed to our table, presented with the menu choices and given time to browse over the options.

The vibe was all about good times and family feels. From the moment we walked in, the staff were on point, super attentive and full of smiles. Now, let’s dive into the good stuff: the starters:-

Calamari Fritti – £11.50 – Crispy fried squid, chilli and lemon mayonnaise
This dish was beautiful, the fried squid was extremely light in texture, not too heavily battered, which was perfect. The lemon mayonnaise was subtle and really complemented the dish.

Capesante – £16.50 – Pan-seared king scallops, salmoriglio sauce, creamed potatoes, garlic spinach and crispy breadcrumbs
The perfect scallop should be golden brown on both sides, firm at the edges, and opaque and succulent in the centre, and this is exactly what we got. An absolutely beautiful dish, we would certainly order again.

The starters were delightful and set the stage perfectly for our anticipation of the main courses. We chose:-

Tagliatelle Al Salmone – £19.25 – Argyll smoked salmon, asparagus, lemon and herb mascarpone with tagliatelle
Get ready for a flavour explosion! Each bite delivered a smoky salmon sensation with the irresistible crunch of asparagus, all in a satisfying portion size.

Gamberoni Salmoriglio – £28.50 – Wild red king prawns, red chilli, garlic, white wine, flat leaf parsley, lemon and toasted ciabatta
Feast your eyes on these prawns – a dish you’ll find irresistible. Perfectly cooked and bursting with an impeccable blend of flavours, this culinary masterpiece will leave you craving more.
