Whether simply stewed or cooked in a warming crumble or pie, rhubarb is one of our all-time favourite ingredients here at Wine & Dine, so we’re very much looking forward to the Wakefield Festival of Food, Drink & Rhubarb later this month.
Taking place from 23-25 February, it will see the city centre streets come alive with a vibrant celebration of all things rhubarb. There will be live demonstrations with Jean-Christophe Novelli, a family rhubarb trail, guided walks, delicious street food and plenty of entertainment for people of all ages.
The Family Marquee is new for 2018 and will be jam packed with fun activities, ideal for keeping younger visitors occupied this half term.
Rhubarb from our region is certainly worth celebrating. Wakefield is part of the ‘Rhubarb Triangle’, an area of West Yorkshire where the best quality forced rhubarb has been grown for hundreds of years.
It’s so good that Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb has earned itself protected name status alongside other world famous delicacies such as Parma Ham and Champagne. Entry to the festival is free and it is open 10.00am-5.00pm each day.
