Yorkshire Wolds gin producer Raisthorpe Distillery has collaborated with Michelin star chef Shaun Rankin to produce a new bespoke Lemongrass, Thyme and Basil Gin.
The gin has been produced for the chef’s recently opened fine dining restaurant, Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, at the new luxury country house hotel near Ripon.
Raisthorpe has also produced a ‘Grantley Hall’ gin which is available in the five-star hotel’s Norton Bar. The distillery’s Damson Gin is available for guests to enjoy at their leisure in the bedrooms of Grantley Hall.
Shaun Rankin said: “As a Yorkshireman, I’m proud that our restaurant showcases locally grown and sourced ingredients. We take full advantage of the herbs and vegetables grown in our very own Kitchen Garden. To complement this, we use only a selection of hand-picked suppliers with an ethos that matches our own and when we wanted to create a unique gin using our own produce, we turned to the experts at Raisthorpe which has won so many Great Taste Awards for its gin liqueurs.”
Raisthorpe founder Julia Medforth said: “We’re proud to be a Yorkshire business. We’ve seen some massive growth in the gin market since we started gin production ten years ago and are constantly innovating with new flavours to find new ways in which people can enjoy our spirits. We were delighted to be approached by Mr Rankin and to rise to his challenge to produce a unique gin using his exciting botanicals.”
Julia started the Wharram-based business on her farmhouse kitchen table after her homemade Raspberry Gin Liqueur made from an old family recipe proved a hit with guests.
Since these modest beginnings the company has enjoyed considerable national success, winning 12 Great Taste Awards and now supplying independent retailers and the hospitality sector nationwide, as well as selling online.
