The Grand Pacific, Leeds – A Sunday roast you won’t forget!

The Grand Pacific, which is situated inside the Queens Hotel, opened last summer as part of the iconic Grade II hotel’s £16million refurbishment.

Wine & Dine Yorkshire was invited to try out the Sunday lunch menu and wow, what a treat!

On arrival, the décor of the restaurant is beautiful and certainly has a Asian feel. The dark interior adds a romantic element to your visit so is definitely perfect for a date night!

After some lovely cocktails we were ready to delve into the food. For starters we went for Duck Gyoza and Tiger Prawn Cocktail. The gyoza’s were extremely flavoursome and were served with a crunch which was delicious. Then, the prawn dish was presented so beautifully I didn’t want to eat it! The huge tiger prawns were seasoned to perfection. My favourite dish! It is worth mentioning however, this dish was massive, so it may be worth sharing if you are thinking of getting this and a main course.

We were glad there was a little wait after the starters as we were already a little full. However, nothing could have prepared use for what was about to arrive. For mains, we went for Roast English Topside of Beef and Roast Chicken. Firstly, both meats arrived at the table accompanied with gravy. This was then followed by a tray of Seasonal Greens, Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Cauliflower Cheese, Buttered Mash, Horseradish, Roasting Gravy and Yorkshire Puddings. The presentation was amazing, we loved how you had your own mini carvery for the table which you could help yourself to. This is also perfect for sharing as you can control what you put on your plate and if you aren’t a fan of something, your partner can have it instead! The stars of the show for us were the buttery mash potato and the cauliflower cheese! The butter was just melting as it was served so each spoonful had a delicious salty taste. The cheese was perfectly grilled on top of the creamy cauliflower cheese, the perfect naughty Sunday treat.

Our glasses of wine were never empty, and the staff made a real effort to make sure our visit to The Grand Pacific was the best it could be! I particularly liked how the wine cooler was not at our table, but in the corner of the restaurant which our waiter kept an eye on and filled out glasses if it was needed. This added a real element of sophistication to our visit and certainly made us feel special.

Whilst we visited there was an array of occasions being celebrated such as birthdays, hen parties and anniversaries. It is great to see so many people already visiting the restaurant and shows that it is the perfect place to host any special occasion! The harpist was playing modern tunes which provided excellent entertainment. Along with the décor of the restaurant, it felt like you were in a scene from Bridgerton!

So, if you are looking for somewhere new to try out on a Sunday, please give The Grand Pacific Leeds a try, you will not be disappointed!
