Held in the birthplace of Wensleydale – the nation’s favourite cheese – this food festival, after an uncertain start, is officially back for 2017! The good people of Yorkshire are renowned for their love of good food and drink, and they take it pretty damn seriously; it’s all about good quality local produce, and this festival is the pinnacle of their gastronomic calendar.
This year the festival will be taking place in June to make the most of the wonderful summer weather. You will see plenty of cookery demonstrations from some of the region’s top chefs, as well as a real ale festival showcasing some of the best local brews and a wonderful wine bar. There will be celebrity talks, live music and plenty to keep the little ones entertained, such as a funfair and a bungee trampoline.
As expected, there’ll be various food stalls offering everything from coffee and crepes, to hot dogs and pizza, ensuring you can eat to your heart’s content. Deliciously Yorkshire is supporting the cookery theatre marquee this year, where you’ll be able to watch and learn from industry professionals, including tutors from Darlington College School of Catering.
The Old School House will also be hosting dedicated arts & crafts stands where local artisans, artists and craftspeople will be showcasing their talents. And just to top it all off – there’s a brass band (or two) too!
Without further ado welcome this free festival back with open arms and empty bellies on June 17th!
