A well – renowned market that started in 2008 and organised by members of the local community will host its festive December Market this Sunday, offering up a great range of food, gifts and craft stalls.
This local quarterly market is organised entirely by a small group of local residents and volunteers in Sheffield’s vibrant green hub that is Nether Edge. The market will see some exciting seasonal touches this Sunday including a Santa’s Grotto up on the bowling green.
The market will bring together over 80 local businesses and enterprises selling crafts, home grown and cooked foods and hand made goods. Some of the recent traders have included Yay flapjacks by Torte Cakes, Foundry Coffee roasters, Whirlow Hall Farm butchery, Forge Bakehouse, traditional icecream, and plant stalls.
However it is ‘much more than just a market,’ with a varied programme of live entertainment to enjoy on the day including multicultural dances, music, bands and performances.
The event, which will take place in the streets around the old Netheredge market place aims to provide a forum whereby residents can celebrate the fantastic produce of the community.
All proceeds from the stall hire are donated to local beneficiaries, and since opening in 2008 over £75,000 has been raised for local charities across Sheffield.
The programme of local entertainment (musicians and dancers) who will be sharing their talent on the day is as follows:
11:30 Jacapella (Harmony singers)
12:00 Salvation Army Band
12:45 Boggarts Breakfast (Morris Dancers)
13:30 Sheffield Chorale
14:15 Tin Soldiers (Band)
