Visitors can expect street food, pop-up bars, demonstrations, cookery lessons, tastings and much more. The Festival’s large market on Parliament Street will feature a vast range of foods, including cheeses, bread, chocolate, cakes and even Yorkshire wine!
The Festival Cookery School will offer free lessons from local experts, while craft beers and fantastic wines will be on offer in the pop-up bar, accompanied by live music and tasty street food.
Even the little ones are catered for, with the Little Viking’s Kids Activity Zone, where fun foodie based activities will take place over the weekends of the festival.
A Taste Trail and Ale Trail will lead visitors across the city to explore delicious new tastes, while a savoury chocolate making masterclass is sure to set the taste buds tingling. The jam-packed programme of events also includes a guided historic pub walk, English sparkling wine tasting, a French macaron workshop and classes with York Cookery School.
The little ones can practise their culinary skills with a pizza cookery class, while music lovers can enjoy York’s Little Festival of Live Music.
The Festival aims to promote local food producers, independent restaurants and retailers in York, establishing the city as a culinary hotspot and transforming the streets with a wealth of activities for all ages to discover and enjoy.
Showcasing all the wonderful tastes and smells the area’s best artisan producers, cafes and restaurants have to offer, the Festival looks set to celebrate its 20th anniversary in style – around 400,000 visitors are expected over the course of the 10 days, as well as 1,000 schoolchildren.
